BFR training

BFR training

Blood Flow Restriction Training, known as BFR-T or BFR, is an innovative training method that involves the partial restriction of blood flow through the application of an external constrictive device. When the band is inflated, mechanical compression gradually occurs on the vasculature beneath the cuff, resulting in partial arterial blood flow restriction in the structures distal to the band and, to a greater extent, a restriction of venous outflow. It is successfully used both in sports and rehabilitative contexts due to its proven effectiveness in terms of strength gains and muscle hypertrophy.

Through BFR, clients can achieve benefits by performing exercises with a low load (20-30% of 1RM), obtaining the same results as high-intensity training typically done with loads of 75-80%, but without stressing tendons and joints. This can be particularly useful, for example, for post-operative patients or those with high pain sensitivity who cannot tolerate heavier loads due to injuries or joint issues in the knees or back.

To be used safely, BFR must be conducted by qualified and certified personnel. With BFR, it is possible to formulate a customized protocol, incorporating it into the daily training routine to enhance results, improve body composition, increase strength, and gain the numerous systemic benefits of this innovative protocol.
